MARKDOWN TO CUSTOM DOCX

Convert Markdown to DOCX without replacing your Word design system.

Most converters create a new document that merely resembles your brand. BrandQuill starts with your real template and changes only the body content.

The practical answer

A DOCX file is a package of XML parts, relationships, themes, numbering rules, and assets. BrandQuill preserves that package, removes the old body content, and writes structured Word elements before the existing section settings. Markdown provides the content hierarchy. The template provides the visual rules.

How to do it

  1. Prepare a valid Word template

Use a DOCX or DOTX under 12 MB with named styles for title, headings, body text, quotes, and any table treatment you want to reuse.

  2. Use semantic Markdown

Use hash marks for headings, normal list syntax, blockquotes, fenced code blocks, links, and pipe tables.

  3. Publish in the browser

The converter reads the template ZIP package, maps the Markdown nodes, and creates a new DOCX without uploading the source files.

  4. Verify the document in Word

Confirm any template-specific fields, table widths, and page breaks that depend on Microsoft Word layout behavior.

What produces the cleanest result

  • Define custom named styles in Word before using the template.
  • Keep the final section properties in the template so orientation and margins remain authoritative.
  • Use actual Markdown links instead of pasting raw tracking URLs into prose.
  • Keep remote images separate until image import is added to the product.

Common questions

Does it work with DOTX files?

Yes. DOTX input is accepted and the output is converted to a normal editable DOCX package.

What if the template has no numbering definitions?

BrandQuill adds the required numbering part, relationship, and content type automatically.

How are tables sized?

Tables receive an explicit grid and cell widths based on the template page width and margins.

Is this a server-side conversion service?

No. The current publisher runs in the browser, which keeps document content and template files local.
